Charge Elon Musk in Texas

Texas just elected the officials who can prosecute Elon Musk and his companies for the cases the federal government dropped. This fund pays for a year of pressure on every one of them. Open the case file.

There is a massive public record of criminal conduct by Elon Musk and his companies in Texas, and the federal government walked away from it. When the current administration took office in January 2025, the Democratic staff of the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations counted at least 65 federal actions pending against Musk's companies, with $2.37 billion in potential liability. Federal agencies dropped the cases and collected $1.5 million. On Nov. 3, 2026, Texas elected the officials who can investigate and prosecute that conduct under Texas law. We want those investigations opened and justice served.

This fund pays for a year-long battle: emailing, calling and mailing the incoming attorney general, the governor, the comptroller, every district attorney in Texas, every Democratic legislator and their staff, and the Texas Democratic Party and every county Democratic party, every week, until they civilly and criminally investigate Elon Musk and his companies. I'll be reaching out myself, with our volunteers, to speak with the district attorneys, the state representatives, the new attorney general and the new governor, and push for investigations into this criminal conduct.

I'm Christopher Armitage, founder and publisher of The Existentialist Republic, a civic affairs publication. We put model bills and public records in front of the officials who can act on them, and we report back on what those officials do. Our readers funded the Make Corrupt Politicians Pay Act campaign, which put that bill in front of every Democratic state legislator in the country. Every dollar raised here gets accounted for in monthly updates on our Substack and at theexistentialistrepublic.com.

What Texas can charge. We put the record into a free case file, with the Texas law that reaches each matter and the office that enforces it:

  • Naibel Benavides Leon, 22, killed in a 2019 Autopilot crash. A Miami jury left Tesla owing $242.57 million, and California ruled the Autopilot marketing misleading. Texas's Deceptive Trade Practices Act charges by the violation and can name Musk personally.
  • Jose Luis Bautista, 25, the contract worker who died at SpaceX's Starfactory on May 15, 2026. The Cameron County district attorney can review the death as manslaughter at any time.
  • Grok's sexualized images, about 23,000 of which appeared to depict children. Forty-three Texas legislators asked Ken Paxton to investigate in January 2026 and got no public answer. Two 2025 Texas statutes reach it, and Musk's own posts reach him as a party.
  • Musk's May 2022 Twitter posts, which a federal jury found misleading in March 2026. Under the Texas Securities Act that is a first-degree felony, and the window to charge it closes May 13, 2027.
  • The $1.66 billion tax break and $30 million grant Gov. Greg Abbott's office gave Musk's chip plant while Musk put nearly $197 million into Texas campaigns. A judge has ordered more than 1,000 pages of Abbott's communications with Musk opened.

What your gift does. The case file goes to all of those offices in November 2026, and then we email, call and mail them, office by office, every week for a year, through the 2027 session and the May 2027 securities deadline, asking each one for the civil and criminal investigations the file lays out. Research hours keep the file right the week an official reads it, after every ruling, filing and response. Every answer, every message count and every deadline met or missed gets published.

  • $25 keeps one district attorney on the follow-up list for the full year.
  • $100 covers a county: its district attorney, its legislators and its Democratic party.
  • $500 funds a month of research that keeps the file current.

Why now. Bill filing for the 2027 session opens Nov. 9, 2026. The federal window to cite SpaceX over the Starfactory death closes Nov. 15, 2026. Texas pension funds that sold Twitter stock must file claims by Nov. 24, 2026. The Legislature convenes Jan. 12, 2027, the new governor takes office Jan. 19, 2027, and the Texas securities fraud window on the Twitter posts closes May 13, 2027. The file has to be in those offices before each date, not after.

States finish what Washington drops. When the Justice Department settled with Live Nation in the first week of trial in March 2026, 33 states and the District of Columbia kept going and won the jury verdict on April 15, 2026. Texas collected $1.4 billion from Meta and $1.375 billion from Google under laws that charge by the violation, and the Tesla and Grok matters in the file fall under the same laws. If the attorney general's cases reach that level, Texas collects nearly $3 billion, so the campaign also happens to pay for itself. The point is the investigations.

What you get. Sign up at theer.org and when the file goes out you get each office's contact information and what to ask them for, written so you can send your own version. Offices count identical messages once, so your own words are what works.

Thank you. Chris
